There’s some gypsy magic in the air and it is calling caffeine lovers from far and wide.

From its spot just off Macleay Street, Gypsy Espresso ensures that the entire neighbourhood has house-roasted coffee and beautiful brunches at their fingertips

Inspired by Mario Szucs and Will Smallbone’s international relocation to Australia (from Hungary and New Zealand respectively), the cafe’s namesake encapsulates their love for coffee, community and travel across the globe.

Mario and Will have combined their talents and passion for coffee with their abundance of knowledge to open the incredibly well received Gypsy Espresso, following with the creation of a roastery and wholesale business based in Alexandria.

With an eye for quality and a taste for decadence, their flavoursome blends are making their way across some of Sydney’s top tier cafes, including SAL, Romolo, Jamie’s Italian and Barista & Cook. They also offer professional barista training classes specialising in micro-roasting to conquer the art of coffee.

The staff at Gypsy espresso are masters of brewing and always experimenting with new ways to keep coffee exciting. From a weekly rotation of single origin options to both espresso and filtered styles – V60, cold drip and cold brew – among a multitude of others, there is no shortage of choice. The house blend combines three rich beans from Costa Rica, Colombia and Brazil with hints of caramel, chocolate, candied walnuts and the tartness of blueberry. This versatile blend is immensely popular and can be ordered black or white.

To eat, choose innovative breakfast choices like the coconut sago with banana, brown sugar, mint syrup and black sesame, or coveted favourites like the sliced avocado on sourdough with Roma tomatoes topped with basil – both are sure to bring magic to your morning. Lunch is served in the form of delicious salads, sandwiches and burgers – the Gypsy burger with beetroot relish, zucchini pickles and provolone cheese never failing to satisfy.

Mario and Will have strived to produce quality coffee and food without the hefty price tag. For them, the loyal customers are always at the forefront of every change made, every brew poured and every dish served. Be it your morning coffee, lazy brunch or lunch date, a visit to Potts Point’s favourite Gypsy is one way to brighten your day.
